The article surveys the similarities between security applications and IoT devices in that they are both “simplistic” devices that run software. Therefore, Amitai concludes, security appliances are susceptible to some of the same vulnerabilities as IoT devices – such as acting as a gateway for network breaches, DDoS, phishing and malware attacks, just to name a few.
